DESIGN PROCESS
01
Discovery Call
Quick 30-Minute Consultation We'll begin our collaboration with a brief, focused call designed to understand your vision and objectives. During this 30-minute session, we'll delve into the specifics of your project, including your design needs, brand identity, target audience, and any existing materials or inspiration you have in mind. This is also the time for you to ask any questions and for me to provide an overview of how I can help bring your vision to life.
By the end of this call, we’ll have a clear understanding of the project scope, timeline, and deliverables, ensuring that we’re both on the same page before moving forward.
02
Design Exploration
Creative Concept Development Once we've established your needs, I’ll dive into the creative process. I will explore a wide range of design concepts and layouts to identify the most compelling directions for your project. This stage involves brainstorming, sketching, and experimenting with various design elements to ensure that the final product not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
My goal here is to identify three standout designs that effectively communicate your brand’s message and appeal to your target audience. These initial concepts will provide a solid foundation for us to build upon in the next phase.
03
Revisions
Collaborative Refinement Process After presenting the three initial design concepts, I will work closely with you to fine-tune the selected design. This is your opportunity to provide feedback, suggest changes, and make sure the design aligns perfectly with your vision. Whether it’s adjusting colors, tweaking layouts, or reworking certain elements, I’m committed to refining the design until you are 100% satisfied. We’ll go through 2-3 revision rounds if necessary to ensure the final product is a true reflection of your brand and goals.
Revisions is our collaborative process aimed at achieving the best possible result. Your input is valuable, and I'm committed to creating something that truly resonates with your brand and audience. Clear communication during this phase is key, and I’m here to guide you through every step of the process.
04
Handoff & Support
Final Delivery and Ongoing Assistance Once the design is finalized, I’ll prepare all the necessary files and deliver them to you in the required formats. Whether you need print-ready files, web-optimized graphics, or editable source files, I’ll ensure that everything is organized and easy to use for your team. But my support doesn’t end there.
I’ll remain available for 30 days after the handoff to assist with any questions or minor adjustments you might need. This period is designed to give you peace of mind as you implement the new design, ensuring a smooth transition and the best possible outcome for your project.
After telling me about your project and we start to discuss the details of what it consists of, all the tiny little details, then I hand over to you a detailed process list, containing all items and the time estimates.
Example: A Branding Package process comes in separate phases, each divided into distinct milestones. Typically there are 2 phases which cover research, concept dev, visual identity dev, brand guidelines, website, packaging and user testing.
Do you need a brand refresh or a complete rebrand? This determines whether we will be working on it sever weeks up to a few months.
Discussion first.
I wish I was an ice cream shop, but I'm not. It's not only unrealistic to have a price tag on design services, but it become detrimental to my practice.
I use individual approach to each client, fully considering their needs, vision, and end goals.
The world of design is so vast, it would hurt the outcome if a fixed price would be placed.
No convoyuer approach.
We are at the finalization process of putting together a brand guidelines.
But could you make the logo bigger?
Why does it need to be bigger? Or a different color? How does it tie together with the concept of the brand? Why would its placement convey a different meaning?
Those are the questions I find answers to during the design process. Each step has a purpose to, in the end, have a cohesive indestructible brand feel.
No.
Also no.
An hourly rate is fair market value (which doesn't apply for high end deign) times the amount of hours spent.
— Ok, so does that mean if I do work less hours, I should charge you less?
—Yea,
—So if I go over those hours, I should charge you more?
—Sure,
—Really?
—Yea!
—Ok, so, you're saying to me: You value this logo taking longer rather than shorter? So it means: If I just tell you it took me 4 months to work on it, you will now owe me thirty-six thousand dollars.
—If it's in my budget and if I think you're worth it. But i would also ask: Why would it take that long to make that logo?
—I wanna put a lot of effort into it,
—But I could hire somebody else who would charge me the same rate but do it quicker.
—So you value time over money then?
—Sure, as a business person, yeah.
—So here's the deal: I work really fast. I can come up with a logo, but I'm being punished for me being efficient and really good. Do you understand? The logic doesn't work now. That's the problem. So if I can do a logo for you right now and you love it in 5 minutes, are you saying it's worth less that $18k? Or is it worth more now? Because I saved you a lot of time.
—We can go to market right now.
—So charging by the hour punishes me for being good.
Now I'll tell you what: You can hire four interns straight out of school. They'll charge a couple hundred bucks total, and you'll wait. And then you'll say it's not right, but you can't articulate to them and they don't know why.
And you keep waiting and you keep revising and what aren't you doing now?
Let's have you running your business instead.
I'm gonna give you an amazing logo that you're not gonna have to change for a long time.
